‘And now why do you wait? Rise and be baptized and wash away your sins, calling on his name.’ Acts 22:16
We are procrastinators. In general, humans like to wait until the last second to accomplish something. It’s in our nature. We even cheer for the guys who get everything done right at the buzzer. The last second shot to win the game. The 2 minute drive at the end of the game. Overtime. We love to wait until the end to see the action, but why? Why do we do it with our faith? Many of us consciously state I’ll shape up later, when I’ve had my fun. I’ll pray when it’s convenient for me.
Paul made it pretty clear in this particular scripture by asking these questions “why do you wait?” I ask the same thing. Why do you want to wait for freedom? Why do you want to wait on the best relationship you will ever have? Call on the name of the Lord be baptized into the faith see your sins washed away and witness the truth that is the Love of Jesus Christ first hand.
Why wait, when you can have it now?
